Miss Maggie Webber in Mourning, Albumen Carte de Visite with Tax Stamp, 1864-1866
Written on the reverse in contemporary script is "Mifs Maggie Webber, Trindle Spring Hold, PA" with a hand-cancelled blue 2 cent revenue stamp. I've found Trindle Spring, but cannot find a Maggie or Margaret or even M. Webber in that area. This beautiful girl remains a mystery at the moment.
Going the Distance: Quick Fixes-White Collars

The Porters, June 20, 1864
Interesting hat, short sleeves & button (rosette?) trim that extends over the shoulder line towards the back. The skirt appears to be more cone shaped than dome shaped Carte de visite by Cook & Jones of Winona, Minn. The back of the mount of this photograph offers two clues as to the identity of this couple posed with a violin: The aforementioned photographer’s name and location, and a pencil inscription, “Mr. and Mrs. Porter June 20th 1864.” Ronald S. When I was little, growing up in the late 80s and early 90s, off the shoulder dresses were the absolute pinnacle of ladylike perfection. Thanks to nostalgic images of Brigitte Bardot floating around our house and my then style icon Princess Jasmine, I knew I'd be needing an off the shoulder gown one day, and in super l
