Learning Italian on the ‘Coast of the Gods’ is a one-in-a-lifetime experience
Tropea easily wins the contest for the prettiest town on Calabria’s Tyrrhenian coast. Its historic centre is perched on cliffs above the sea and overlooks sugar–soft sandy beaches. On a clear day, you can see the volcanic island of Stromboli from Tropea! You can also visit the island on the boats that depart from the local port. When is the best time to visit Tropea? 🤔 If you want to enjoy the beaches around Tropea, the best time to visit is between May and November. Winters are warm and quiet, giving you an excellent chance to enjoy the Mediterranean outside the high season. Why Tropea? 🤔 Tropea is home to our Italian language school, part of the International Association of Language Centres (IALC).
The Terrace of the Map Room of the @uffizigalleries features late 16th-century maps and a breathtaking view over Florence.

Designed by Giorgio Vasari, the space was built as an open loggia. It was later enclosed in the 1690s on Ferdinando de' Medici's return from Rome to become the grand duke of a unified Tuscany.

To celebrate the occasion, the cartographer Stefano Bonsignori made maps of the grand duchy, which went on to be painted by Ludovico Buti.

On these walls, you can admire a spectacular depiction of Tuscany, where the ancient names of more than 1,200 towns and villages are elegantly handwritten in gold!
