how did Mercury get his name?
The Romans named #Mercury after their messenger god, along with being the patron of science, the arts, travelers and athletes. Usually, he’s depicted wearing a winged helmet and sandals. He could travel very quickly from place to place. The planet Mercury moves quickly around the sun. That is how it got its name. "Wednesday" in Romance Languages was named after him (For example, Miércoles in Spanish, Mercredi in French and Mercoledi in Italian).
