El Mirador del Rio is a hollow mountain transformed into a coffee place, overlooking the island of La Graciosa. El Mirador was built by Cesar Manrique, a local artist that before his death in the filled the island with astonishing architecture.
Salinas del Janubio, Lanzarote, Canary Archipelago - This is the biggest salt refinery in the region and has been made a nature conservancy. Originally these saltworks were a natural lagoon that over the years were isolated from the sea by volcanic materials disgorged by the eruptions of the volcanoes of the Timanfaya Park. Here, someone has used one of the disused salt pans to construct a piece of land art out of volcanic rocks.
