Now that I found out I am getting more independent, outgoing. I decide to left the shy little girl hide somewhere really far away and redefining myself as a leader, a leader who understand and facing its responsibilities, and make good decision. I might still be nervous about going to school on Sunday. However, I probably won’t throw up for that no more.

Four girls live in one room with even the same bed sets. The biggest challenge for me there is to taking care of myself. I’ve never learned how to fold a comforter before as well as doing my own laundry. So I’d rather take all my dirty laundry back home than do it myself the first couple of months. More problems appear in that little dorm. I can’t get my own hair done. I can’t get up on time because I couldn't fell asleep sleeping in dark without parents.

in the second week, we had a “job fair”. In which we would each present ourselves on the “job” we wanted such as sweep the first roll of the floor every morning, or cleaning the left top Window every day, collecting everybody homework, etc. Then we would have a vote. whoever got the most vote got the job. I was the "trash girl". but I found myself more involved in the classroom and with other kids by taking the responsibility of my job.

At the age of six, I dragged my little suitcase and my backpack happily started my school. However, my school was a bit different from others. I lived inn dorms and could only go home every Friday afternoon and come back on Sunday night. On the very first day of my school, I am excited and expected to meet new friends yet really sad that my parents won’t stay there with me. I had quiet a few weeks to adjust myself from the homesickness.

This was the first day of school. I was standing in the beautiful campus. I felt thrilled yet really nervous about meeting all the new people. On that day I had to say good bye to my mom and dad for a long time compared to couple hours apart in preschool. I was afraid of night because I won’t go to bed without mommy.

I am in class 3 (which there are 6 class in my grade) with 34 more students, a head teacher, nursing teacher, and a teaching assistant. This is the first photo I could find with all my classmates. In boarding school we wore the same uniform even including the socks(optional), school bags, and leather shoes(optional). However at the beginning of the first couple days I did't feel we have that much in commons. So I found it might be hard to make friends.

Back to the days when little kids don’t have a phone with them, we used to call home in a telephone booth. I don’t remember how many times I called them during the week at school. But our conversation always starts with “MOM, I Miss You so much!” and ends with “DAD, you have to promise me that you are going to be the first one in the line to pick me on Friday!” I remember I've ask my mom to be the nursing teacher to my class so that she could give us food, and sleep with me.

Her name is Na Li, my head teacher. She is the most innovative teacher I’ve ever experienced. She ‘s built up a big sister-like model on us as being creative about solving problems as well as taking responsibilities. She especially value our leadership and team work ability for which I was the most effected by.

After my first year in a boarding school, I found myself changed a lot. For the very first one is that I am much better able to take care of myself. And of course, I would love to share more chores with my mom.

The second thing I found myself changed the most is that I am definitely more outgoing after I went to boarding school. As many of the Chinese kids of my age, I am the single child in my family. And that make me really have to stay home and being along after school if I don’t have all the friends there living with me.
