The Roosevelt elk, also known asOlympic elk, is the largest of the four surviving subspecies of elk inNorth America. They live in the rain forests of the Pacific Northwest and were introduced to Alaska's Afognak and RaspberryIslands in 1928.

Roosevelt Elk bedded down at Northwest Trek. Notice thickening near last antler points. This identifies them as Roosevelt, or Olympic Elk, versus Rocky Mountain Elk.
