school chocolate milk...remember when we had milk breaks in our classrooms. Had to bring milk money in every week.

School Chocolate Milk - forgot about this, seems I remember it was only available on Friday's as a treat. I think we paid 5 cents a carton.

i remember doing this:)

Pick a Color - Any Color . Pick a color, pick a number, read your fortune . cootie catchers were fun. Folding them up and writing the numbers and fortunes were the best parts!

Teacher used this to pull down window shades or rolled up wall maps.

I loved when the teacher would let me open the windows! used to have these in school - pole hook for windows

A weekly (um, thus the name) highlight of elementary school was exploring the Weekly Reader. We also ordered books through Weekly Reader and Scholastic and anxiously awaited their delivery. I remember once mistakenly ordering Misty of Chincoteague (I was not into horses at all) and feeling crestfallen when it arrived, but I read it of course (I mean, it was a book after all), and thereby fell in love with all the Marguerite Henry books.

Weekly Reader - current events all through grade school. My favorite thing about elementary school!

When I went to grade school this was always the longest part of the day. This image brings that feeling back but with the passage of time the memory is more cheerful.

bing holly hobbie | Holly Hobbie | 70's girl

I remember Holly Hobbie from my childhood. I may have had a HH lunch box but I definitely had a Holly Hobby comforter, sheets, curtains and a Canopy bed with her print all over it.

Omg yes! Where did these Cheez balls go!

Who didn't love Planters Cheez Balls? (The "z" reminds us these were about as close to real cheese as Funyuns are to real onions.

and our parents thought this was expensive.......

Cost of Living in Although, If I remember right, the milk and the gas might be a little higher than they were in our area. I'm also pretty sure that the minimum wage was lower than that also. I remember making 65 cents/ hr in

vintage baby food dish, hot water reserve to keep food warm...had one for my first baby!

I remember using one of these. You put hot water inside it to keep the baby food warm.and have a tiny bit of 3 different items, making sure to have a green veggie and an orange one. A well balanced meal even for wee ones.

Before book bags, there were book satchels.

I still have my "book satchel" and first set of crayons. [Vintage school bag and school supplies]
