An unfortunate Hellcat which had it's engine blown off. This catastrophic damage of this type is incredibly rare, indicating the engine was hit by a large calibre shell, probably or above. Somewhere in the Pacific, date unknown.

Bomber (Sweet Pea) received a direct hit flak during a raid on the Hungarian city of Debrecen . Despite the critical damage, the pilot Guy Miller was able to hold on to the airfield in Italy. An amazing feat in an amazing aircraft.
