Traditional spindle and distaff

Just this morning I picked up my drop spindle. It hates me. So I decided this is the year that it will become my friend.

I actually have a drop spindle. I have done this, although I suspect that my yarn had more inconsistencies.

I'm still trying to grok the distaff.
