An Iraqi prisoner of war comforts his son at a regroupment center for POWs of the Airborne Division near An Najaf, March The man was seized in An Najaf with his son, and the U. military did not want to separate them.

While this Iraqi prisoner was trying to comfort his 4 year old son, the little boy was afraid to see his father hooded and handcuffed. The army considered his request to free his hands so he could make his boy feel comfortable.

A picture of an Iraqi prisoner of war hugging his small, frightened son won the prestigious World Press Photo of the year 2003 award, judges said on Friday.
