We attach Tillandsia xerographica air plants to sustainably harvested spruce roots for unique living sculptures.

Driftwood tiles with tillandsia artfully added. You could also use a cork slab or tile for this air plant project. Tillandsia can be safely glued to wood as long as you avoid drastically coating the roots (we like E6000 glue). You will still need to water them weekly in Colorado, so plan to be able to do that against a wall or take it down for watering.
