JFK always cared about his clothes, changing his shirts three or four times a day. This is very ironic, especially given JFK in his youth always looked unkempt and dirty. The Kennedy's believed that your image was of the upmost importance to how people perceived you, and this led to a certain vanity in JFK. - Y.
