Inspiration: Maya culture, vessel with a mythological frieze  Project: Have students bring in an old soup or veggie can with the label removed. Using Burnt Sienna construction paper and various fine tipped black, reddish-orange, and brown markers, students will create a personal life scene similar to the Mayans. Then, wrap the construction paper around the can and secure  with a glue stick. This ancient artifact inspired the making of a modern day pencil holder for the student's desk.
