Queen Elizabeth I., circa late Possibly one of the portraits done for distribution, with Her Majesty's approval. So popular and in demand were her portraits, Elizabeth permitted mass production of her image, for the people.

Elizabeth I, the "Sieve Portrait"  c1583, by Quentin Metsys the Younger. Elizabeth is portrayed with a sieve in a number of portraits; the sieve is a symbol of virginity.  It is one of the few surviving works of Quentin Metsys the Younger and was discovered in 1895, rolled up in the attic of the Palazza Reale in Siena.
