This activity can be used in a center or as individual work at a students desk. It works with Gardners' theory of multiple intelligences well. A student is rolling a die-kinesthetic, working independly or in a center group-intrapersonal/interpersonal, and manipulating a word six times.

Spelling/vocab This is a fun spelling game! Students use the first word on their spelling list and roll the die. They complete the task for the number they roll.

Not an app, but...Fun "tech-related" Spelling activity from 1st GRADE iPHONE FREEBIE.  The kids use Vis-A-Vis or Expos on the laminated card stock *phones* to write 5 of their spelling/sight/vocab {whatever} words and then practice *texting* those words.
