Chintz is glazed calico cloth printed with flowers and other patterns in different colors. Unglazed calico is called “cretonne”. The word Calico is derived from the name of the Indian city Calicut, to which it had a manufacturing association
This is an original gown from the early Regency, accented with a delicate tulle overlay and featuring slim sleeves. I believe the original garment is in the Kyoto Museum collection. *Would need different sleeves.
