Product details
Available in 10.5 inch or 12 inch diameter One of our most popular and enduring designs.  Warm, rustic golds evoke the late summer sun on this clock featuring a French honeybee and crown illustration depicting a "queen" bee.  Delightful focal piece for an old world or country decor.  French name for honey bee - abeille - on the time dial.  Clock hands have a distressed finish. All Fairy Freckles Studios' FFS® exclusive artisan designed products are made in the USA. Each design is a copyrighted original; created by our artists and unique to our company.  Clocks are carefully handcrafted upon CARB certified, USA sourced, quarter inch thick, wood MDF using the highest quality giclee prints. Hands are metal and colors and styles may vary from that pictured based on availability. Our clocks do not include a seconds hand. Clock faces are not covered.  This enhances an antique look and makes them easy to read; there is no glare from a glass or plastic lens. Our quality, clock movements are extremely quiet and require one AA battery that is not included. We test every time movement in all clocks we manufacture, insuring each one is working properly before shipping. We thought this was interesting... Almost any day the bees may be seen storing the tiny droplets of honey, or pellets of pollen, they've collected from the flowers, or going about their many other hive duties.  The scout bees may be seen conveying information regarding new honey and pollen sources to the other members of the colony. They use sign language for this, which Dr. Karl von Frisch, an Austrian scientist, appropriately called the "bienen ballet." The so-called bee dance is readily interpreted by the workers who benefit from such information when they go afield to collect from the flowers.  Excerpt from Winter 1961 edition of Lasca Leaves published by the Southern California Horticultural Institute
