Temple of Philae, Aswan, Egypt. Philae, said to be one of the burying-places of Osiris, was held in high reverence both by the Egyptians to the north and the Nubians (often referred to as Ethiopians in Greek) to the south. It was deemed profane for any but priests to dwell there and was accordingly sequestered and named "the Unapproachable." http://exploretraveler.com http://exploretraveler.net

[EGYPT 29518] 'Hathor headed columns in Dendera.' The columns in the outer hypostyle hall (or pronaos) of the Hathor Temple at Dendera are crowned by four-sided capitals carved with the face of the cow-eared goddess. The faces symbolize the four cardinal points of the universe and stress the universal character of the sky goddess Hathor, who was also called "Lady with the four Faces". The square structure that is placed on top of the actual face is a sistrum, a ritual musical instrument.

Ending 60 meters before the 2nd pylon where a colonnade of 12 pillars, each 65 ft tall were raised. Constructed by Nesi (Pharaoh) Taharka, 25th Dynasty, Neo New Kingdom.
