Patridges, pheasants, quails... all these wonderful fowl have been appealing to me. I'd love to one day live in a place where such birds would visit the yard on occasion.
And a few other birds that are just lovely.
In a recent holiday in Costa Rica the hummingbirds were so tempting to photograph to the point of madness! The Victoria Crowned Pigeon (Goura victoria) is a large, bluish-grey pigeon with elegant blue lace-like crests, maroon breast and red iris. It is part of a genus of three unique very large, ground-dwelling pigeons native to the New Guinea region.
The Himalayan Monal, Lophophorus impejanus also known as the Impeyan Monal, Impeyan Pheasant, and Danphe, is a bird in the pheasant family, Phasianidae. It is the national bird of Nepal. the Himalayan Monal has been classified as monophyletic. However, studies have shown that the male Himalayan Monal of northwestern India lacks the white rump of other Himalayan Monals, and it has more green on the breast, indicating the possibility of a second subspecies.
