"El Cau de Elche", a hidden gem and beautiful open-air (and unofficial) art museum in the heart of Elche's mountains... Not many people know of this but it is worth the trek. Painstakingly built over many years as a hobby these hand carvings in the mountain (n what was an old quarry of the Sierra del Tabaià) represent many of the local events and cultures of the Elche area. There are caves and a picnic area with incredible view. Recommended.
The delightful "Cascada Pantano Elche" waterfalls, its lake & nature trails are 25 minutes drive from the Hondon Valley. [ GMap: https://goo.gl/maps/XNJDXUqZJ8z2DcXt6 ]. There are car parks, however to actually get to the Waterfalls it is a 20-minute walk, but a lovely steady walk, which needs good footwear. There are no catering facilities so take some food & drink as there are plenty of picnic tables. You can also climb up the steps to see the Rio Vinalopó which is the source of the river.
