Based on a very old bed, this reproduction is among the newest in our line. In 16th Century Tudor England, many homes had thatched roofs which, though picturesque, sometimes were less than perfect in keeping out visitors such as birds and bats. Thus the bed became one’s “house within a house”; a sense of security that is still prized today.
