The Commodore Amiga was one of the last great computers of the 1980's. With its custom graphics and sound chips, it had far more impressive capabilities than the PC's or Macs of the time, while costing less. Sadly Commodore went bankrupt in 1994, and the PC and Mac went on to become the dominant computing platforms of today.

My first harddrive was one of these for my Amiga 500, it was 1 gigabyte, and cost $700. I plugged the molex connector inverted, the 12 and 5 volt lines were reversed, and fried it out of the box. Luckily my good friend Todd replaced a $5 part and restored it. -M.Showalter
