Giant objects. Claes Oldenburg is a Swedish sculptor who makes large replicas of everyday objects. He was born in 1929 and moved to Chicago in 1936. He went to Yale University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He's been associated with the Pop Art movement since the 1960s. Spoon and Cherry ~ Claes Oldenburg (born 1929) is a Swedish American sculptor, best known for his public art installations typically featuring very large replicas of everyday objects. Many of Oldenburg's giant sculptures of mundane objects elicited public ridicule before being embraced as whimsical, insightful, and fun additions to public outdoor art. I think think they're terrific.
