Coe Hall, Planting Fields, Oyster Bay Coe Hall, built between 1918 - 1921, is a 65 room Tudor Revial mansion designed by architects, Walker & Gillette. The interior is that of the Elizabethan style. It was the home to William Robertson Coe, insurance magnate and his wife Mary Rogers Coe. The surrounding grounds, Planting Fields Arboretum, was landscaped by the Olmsted Brothers and comprise of 409 acres of formal gardens, woodland paths, greenhouses and extensive plant collections. Lapham-Patterson House, Valdosta, GA - Built by Tudor Rommerdal for Chicago shoe manufacturer Charles W. Laphan in 1885, this Queen Anne style home is one of the first winter cottages built. The 19 room home was ahead of its time with hot and cold running water, gas lighting, and built-in closets. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the house is that there are no square rooms or right angles in the main structure as required by Mr. Lapham.
