Kalyan minaret, Po-i-Kalan complex, Bukhara, Uzbekistan. It was also known as "Tower of Death", as for centuries criminals were executed by being tossed off the top.

"ФОНАРЬ" ВАБКЕНТСКОГО МИНАРЕТА. БУХАРСКАЯ ОБЛАСТЬ. Минарет возведен в городе Вабкенте при пятничной мечети в конце XII в. от имени духовного правителя Бухары садра Бурхан ад-Дина Абд ал-Азиза. "Фонарь" («минарет» происходит от арабского слова «манāра» - место возжигания огня, маяк, поэтому навершия минаретов по аналогии с маяками называют "фонарями") минарета представляет собой цилиндрический киоск с арочными проемами и резными кирпичными решетками (панджара).
