Tuareg blue: For the Tuareg, the colour blue really does run skin deep. Due to the lack of water in the Sahara, they use powdered indigo to dye their robes. The dye however, has a tendency to bleed onto the skin of its wearer when subjected to desert temperatures. Years of wearing these indigo-dyed fabrics can cause their skin to become permanently stained dark blue.
