With the implementation of CCSS, there is a shift toward applied math concepts and skills taught through the use of authentic, real-life problems rather than through a sequence of procedures. Students are expected to work cooperatively, think critically, and solve problems - all while understanding that there are many ways to solve the problem (with no one particular right way) and, sometimes, that there is more than one answer.
