An alleyway in the Golden Gai in Shinjuku Kabuki-cho. Walked around with some friends today. This part of Kabuki-cho has plenty of small bars that only fit about 8 people at one time.

“ You can't get more "downtown" than the Shinjuku district of Tokyo.
Shinjuku’s kind of the party district, though that may be because of Kabukicho (northeast of Shinjuku Station) which is Tokyo’s big red light district. If you’re into nightclubs, bars, pachinko, neon, and other *ahem* things, this will be a place you’ll enjoy.
Tokyo one of the world’s finest cities when it comes to architecture.

The Golden Gai area (inside Shinjuku) is an amazing grid of very very small streets, with hundreds of small tiny bars - 10 persons maximum for each one of them! It's where you can find the famous bar called "La Jetée", because of a Chris Marker's movie. It's a famous bar where filmmakers go whenever they visit Tokyo (Wenders, Jarmusch, Philibert, Tarantino have been there).
