Beautiful, sweet, spongy "Mantecadas", with a lightly crispy crust. My favorite way to enjoy coffee in the morning, they are quick and really easy to make the old fashion way. Just the way they are done at the bakeries in Mexico.
Tarugos (as I know them), are these tamarind candies coated in either powdered chile or sugar. They are pure fruit pulp, sugar and may have other flavoring ingredients such as chili powder and/or citric acid.
